About Vermilion Behavioral Health Systems
Vermilion Behavioral Health Systems is a comprehensive behavioral health center that treats children, adolescents, and adults. They also have a special track for seniors. They’re located in Lafayette, Louisiana. The adolescent and adult programs also include treatment for substance use disorder, including detox and treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders.
The adolescent detox program takes teens ages 12-17. The adult detox program is for those 18 and up. The program accepts many types of insurance, including all major managed care plans. They also take CMO Medicaids like Amerigroup, Wellcare, and Cenpatico. They take Medicare as well.
Detox is an important first step to regaining your health. You’ll rid your body of the toxic substances you’ve been using so you can begin to heal. The program uses experienced medical staff. If you’re experiencing pain or discomfort during withdrawal, they can administer the appropriate medications to make you more comfortable. Symptoms vary depending on the type of substance you use, the length of time you’ve been using, and the severity of your dependence. Most people get through detox in about a week, though sometimes detox can take longer.
While in the detox program, you’ll learn about the 12 Step model of recovery that includes programs such as Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). They also use the rational recovery concept, an approach that’s more based on science than faith. So, if you’re not comfortable with the 12 Step concept of a higher power, you’ll still be able to use the 12 Step model.
The center also treats patients with co-occurring disorders. You’ll be assessed while in the detox program. If you have a co-occurring disorder such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, grief, anger, impulse control, or other issues, you’ll get help for that as well.
When you complete detox, you and your treatment team will decide what the best program is for you. The center has an inpatient program that includes psychiatric, dual diagnosis, and chemical dependency services. They also have an outpatient program if you don’t need the structure and monitoring of an inpatient program.

Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
PHP
Partial hospitalization programs provide comprehensive treatment in a structured setting during the day but allow you to return home at night. These programs offer a balance of inpatient and outpatient rehab and provide intensive support without full time residency.
Detox Service Setting
-
Inpatient Detox
Inpatient detox occurs in a dedicated treatment facility. You’ll live there around the clock and receive intensive medical support and supervision to help manage your withdrawal symptoms. It is suitable for individuals with moderate to severe addictions as it ensures a stable detox environment.
-
Outpatient Detox
Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.
