About AMHC
Once known as “The Farm,” this location has since been replaced with an AMHC residential treatment facility just 25 minutes away in Presque Isle, Maine. AMHC has provided care for residents for over 60 years. This structured care facility provides addiction treatment to adults for 30-45 days at a time.
Residential Addiction Treatment in Aroostook County
While you’re here, you can expect 24/7 treatment, guided by a daily program that includes individual and group therapy, weekly coordination meetings with community providers, and skill-building activities. On Sundays, you can expect family treatment sessions.
Medication assisted treatment, or MAT, can also be integrated into your treatment plan as needed. They also feature driver education and assessment programs for individuals who may have gotten into legal trouble due to substance misuse.
Distraction-Free Substance Abuse Support in Presque Isle
Since its expansion, this facility has grown its capacity from 12 to 18 beds. Residents can expect seven hours of group sessions per day. These sessions encourage discussion of various topics, including relapse prevention, and recovery enhancement.
Residents are also encouraged to take part in local recovery support groups like Narcotics Anonymous, and Alcoholics Anonymous, which hold weekly and monthly meetings onsite. Residents don’t have access to television or electronics and are instead expected to fill their days with chores, exercise, bibliotherapy, group therapy, and mindful journaling.

Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.

Aftercare programs provide ongoing support after you complete a rehab program. They may include several components to help you maintain sobriety including therapy, community support groups and relapse prevention strategies. This gives you a network of resources as you reintegrate into your daily life.

Opioid detox uses medications to ease severe withdrawal symptoms. It also includes medical supervision to help you manage potential complications. These services allow you to stabilize and begin a recovery plan.

Women's programs offer a safe and supportive space to focus on gender specific issues such as trauma, family roles and mental health conditions. Therapists tailor the sessions to address women's needs and foster empowerment in a healing and nurturing environment.

Young Adult (18 - 25)
Young adult programs are designed for individuals who are transitioning into adulthood. Topics of discussion typically include identity, independence and peer relationships. Providers may also offer life skills training and career support.
