About Las Encinas Recovery Center
Las Encinas Recovery Center is a mental health hospital and addiction treatment center in a secluded corner of suburban Pasadena, California. They have several different types of programs and levels of care and that includes their detox center.
This facility has inpatient medically monitored detox. That means you’ll be in a clinical setting and you’ll have medical staff who are monitoring your health and doing what they can to make your detox as smooth and comfortable as possible. That includes watching for any complications and giving you medications to reduce your symptoms.
Typically you’ll be in detox for three to seven days, but this varies from person to person. Since they’re also a mental health treatment center, they can help to stabilize any mental health conditions you have along with your addiction. While you’re there, they’ll also help you understand your condition and prepare for the growth and learning that comes in your ongoing treatment.
All of your treatment will be individualized to you. After detox, this facility also has residential rehab programs and intensive outpatient programs so you can transfer smoothly into the next phase of your recovery. There are swimming pools, outdoor activities, a gym, and community spaces for socialization and fellowship. Pasadena’s also pretty cosmopolitan, with shops, restaurants, bookstores, and performing arts centers that can be accessible during outdoor excursions into the community.
Overall, the client reviews at this hospital aren’t very positive with a lot of clients citing issues like uncomfortable amenities and poor communication among staff. But I noticed that most of the bad reviews are for the mental health unit while the feedback for the detox and substance use treatment seem to be better. In fact, several clients say that they were treated with warmth and respect and that this experience was a positive turning point in their recovery.
Levels of Care

Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.

Dual Diagnosis
Dual diagnosis programs address substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions simultaneously. This integrated approach to care improves the likelihood of long term recovery and stability by addressing the root causes of addiction.
