About First Step Recovery

First Step Recovery is a drug and alcohol addiction treatment center located in Burlington, Colorado founded by a group of recovering addicts. It specializes in dual diagnosis drug and alcohol addiction. They offer ambulatory detox, medication-assisted treatment, intensive outpatient and general outpatient services for clients of all ages. They do not treat opioid addiction. They accept LBGT clients, military, DUI/DWI clients and clients referred from the judicial system.

Ambulatory detox is a type of day-treatment that does not require patients to live on site. They receive treatment by trained staff during the day and then return to their homes. Medications may be administered to assist with withdrawal symptoms during detox. Progress will be monitored under the care of a physician. Detox is a bridge to other treatment programs including those offered at First Step Recovery.

MAT is a form of treatment that combines medication with behavioral treatment such as counseling. Clients may participate in individual and group therapy, relapse prevention, and learning coping skills. They may be referred to community resources for specific needs regarding housing, job training and judicial support.

In addition, First Recovery offers outpatient programs. These programs are tailored to individual clients and may include counseling, and holistic treatments such as nutrition and herbal supplements, and recreational therapy.

First Step Recovery accepts self pay and private insurance. Contact your provider to verify coverage because out of network benefits can vary.

Levels of Care

  • Outpatient

In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.

Detox Service Setting

  • Outpatient Detox

Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.

  • MAT

Medication assisted treatment combines medication and counseling to manage withdrawal and reduce cravings for opioid and alcohol addiction. Medications may include methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone. MAT is tailored to your needs so you can actively participate in your treatment journey.
