About Gateway Foundation – Carbondale
The Gateway Foundation of Carbondale is a drug and alcohol treatment center that’s located in Carbondale, Illinois. The organization is accredited by The Joint Commission and is LegitScript certified. They are also members of the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers.
They accept all major insurance plans. If you’re uninsured, you’ll be able to self pay for your treatment.
When you sign up, you’ll address and treat the physical, behavioral, and social aspects of addiction. I like that the facility is on a quiet and wooded 14 acres. This will provide you with a serene and calm space to work towards your recovery. They’re also close to Green Earth’s Brush Hill Preserve, which offers some hiking trails.
Depending on what your specific needs and circumstances are, you’ll receive services such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma informed therapy and co-occurring disorder treatment. Your customized treatment plan may also include support groups, group therapy, as well as age and gender based group involvement.
Their women’s trauma recovery program does include medication assisted treatment (MAT). If needed, FDA approved medications are used to help manage your withdrawal symptoms. Their medical and nursing team will safely manage the process. Incorporated into your treatment plan will be exercise, nutrition, and motion therapy.
Her Story, a Woman’s Path to Recovery, is their women’s only program. They developed this program to provide support and a safe space for women who suffer from trauma and addiction. This program has 12 beds and wide open floor plans to encourage fellowship. During your time in this program, you’ll address any post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance use disorders and any co-occurring mental health conditions.
Levels of Care

Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.

Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.

Aftercare
Aftercare programs provide ongoing support after you complete a rehab program. They may include several components to help you maintain sobriety including therapy, community support groups and relapse prevention strategies. This gives you a network of resources as you reintegrate into your daily life.

Young Adult (18 - 25)
