About Glenwood Life Counseling Center

Glenwood Life Counseling has been helping residents of and around Baltimore, Maryland, manage substance use challenges for over 50 years. They’re located a few blocks from Belvedere Square and the Senator Theatre in the Mid-Govans neighborhood. The facility helps around 400 individuals and families each year.

They offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) and intensive outpatient therapy (IOP). They’re a CARF-accredited ambulatory center certified by the state of Maryland. While feedback from past clients is mixed, the majority report having a positive experience at this facility.

Medication-Supported Opioid Recovery With Methadone

MAT is an evidence-based technique that combines behavioral therapy and FDA-approved medications like methadone to facilitate lasting abstinence. Methadone helps reduce cravings, eliminate painful withdrawal symptoms.

You’ll work on underlying psychological and emotional symptoms through counseling. You’ll also gain strength from peers who can offer invaluable support as you work toward lasting recovery here.

Structured Support for Lasting Recovery

Glenwood’s IOP can be a lifesaver that supplements MAT. Clients attend evidence-based group and individual counseling alongside social activities. Groups are held 3-4 days each week covering topics like relapse prevention, anger management and life skills. Field trips, luncheons and art therapy can help clients relax as they navigate recovery. Methadone maintenance clients from other programs may be guest-dosed while attending IOP here.

Glenwood provides case management to help you maintain stability and stick to your recovery goals. Case managers can help you with social services, insurance and BGE applications. They can assist with employment searches and housing applications.
