About Healing Place Womens Community
The Healing Place has a women’s only campus in Louisville, Kentucky. Here, they offer help for those who are struggling with drug or alcohol addiction. They offer non-medical detox and residential treatment. Their services are completely free to clients. There is no cost and they don’t accept insurance coverage. There is a cost to access outpatient services and they accept Kentucky Medicaid for that payment.
Their detox program gives women a safe, secure and supportive environment to take the first steps to being substance-free. Detox is the process during which your system withdraws from the substances you’ve been using. You’ll get supervision and encouragement as your body stabilizes and gets used to being without drugs. During your stay, you’ll also have time to reflect, ponder and talk with a counselor about the things that led to your substance use.
The detox process can vary from person to person depending on the substances you’ve used and also your medical history. Generally, this process takes about three to 10 days. Many clients step down from detox into their six-month residential program.
It’s important to note that this facility doesn’t offer medication to help with the detox process. Non-medical detox is also called ambulatory detox. This is what the Healing Place offers. You’ll get supervision and support but not prescription medication. However, if a medical issue comes up then they will transfer you to a medical facility.
I like that the Healing Place is a women’s campus. This can help many clients feel more comfortable and safe, especially if they are also recovering from intimate partner violence, sexual assault or other male-related trauma.
