About John Brooks Recovery Center
John Brooks Recovery Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey, is a nonprofit organization that helps individuals heal from substance use disorder. The levels of care offered at this facility include an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and a general outpatient program. Both utilize medication assisted treatment (MAT) to promote recovery.
Outpatient Withdrawal Management
Medication assisted treatment allows you to manage your withdrawal symptoms while continuing your daily life. The staff will assess your health and substance use history and also get an understanding of what your treatment goals are. Based on this information, you’ll be prescribed a medication that fits your needs, such as buprenorphine or methadone.
These medications are designed to manage common symptoms that include nausea, anxiety and headaches. Counseling will also help with reducing anxiety through therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy.
Counseling to Develop Relapse Prevention Strategies
In addition to assisting you with managing your withdrawal symptoms, a counselor will guide you toward effective relapse prevention strategies to maintain your sobriety. Topics that may be discussed in your sessions include building a support system and practicing mindfulness meditation.
Nature can be a great opportunity for you to practice mindfulness to help reduce your stress. A great spot you can spend time meditating and relaxing is Atlantic City Beach.
