About Johnson County Mental Health Center – Adult Detoxification Unit
Located in Shawnee, Kansas, the adult detoxification unit is part of the Johnson County Mental Health Center. This non-medical eight-bed unit assists adults as they go through the withdrawal process from alcohol or drugs.
This facility offers a safe and supportive place for individuals to undergo withdrawal. Admissions at this facility are accepted 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Medical staff will monitor and evaluate patients during detox and if necessary, will refer them to medical care.
Each client will reside in a semi-private room with a bathroom. All meals, bedding and towels are provided and clients have access to a recreation room. Prior to discharge, clients are referred to other drug rehab providers such as residential or outpatient treatment or community-based support groups such as AA or NA. Referrals to mental health services are made for clients with co-occurring disorders.
This treatment is either free or available through payment assistance. Some referral services may accept private health insurance. Contact your provider to verify coverage as out of network benefits can vary.

-
Intervention
An intervention is a structured and professionally guided conversation with an individual who is struggling with addiction. During the conversation, family and friends will encourage you to seek treatment. This is often a pivotal step for those resistant to getting help.
