About Keystone Treatment Center – Sioux Falls
Keystone Treatment Center in Canton, South Dakota, is a 13-acre campus to help men and women heal from addiction. They offer detox, residential and outpatient treatment that focuses on your wellbeing. Their staff includes mental health experts, doctors, nurses and addiction counselors.
Their detox program helps your body adjust to not being under the influences of drugs or alcohol. During the 3-7 days of this process, you’ll be carefully monitored to keep you comfortable and safe as you go through withdrawal. Nursing staff is available around the clock to ensure your detox experience is effective. You might get medications to ease symptoms that may show up.
During your time at Keystone, you’ll also get support to begin the next chapter of your recovery journey. Detox is not a stand-alone level of care but it is an important first step. Detox clients will seamlessly step down into residential or outpatient treatment with Keystone.
I really like how they have a Native American program and a track for military personnel. Native Americans can partake in their traditional healing practices, such a purification rituals and spiritual advisement, and they’ll be encouraged to speak their native languages. That way, they’ll feel more at home and can have an easier time transitioning back to their communities.
At Keystone, you’ll sleep in a semi-private gender-specific bedroom. You’ll need to bring your clothes and personal hygiene products. Cigarettes are permitted. They provide the bedding, pillows, and towels. They have onsite washers, dryers, and laundry soap at no additional cost. As a patient, you’ll have access to gender-specific lounge rooms stocked with vending machines and recreational activities like pool and ping pong. Limited exercise equipment is available. There’s both a women’s and a men’s chapel as well.
Keystone Treatment Center contracts with most insurance plans including Wellmark, Cigna, Midland’s Choice, Preferred One and Prime West. Unfortunately, they don’t accept Medicare or Medicaid. Staff can verify your coverage and help you navigate the process.
Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.

In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
