About Lexington Center for Recovery – Main Street Clinic – Poughkeepsie
Located near the Hudson River is the Main Street Clinic of Lexington Center for Recovery in Poughkeepsie, New York. However, they actually moved and are now at Civic Center Plaza rather than Main Street. Still, they provide multiple outpatient services for individuals affected by substance use disorders in the community. Near the center you will find plenty of dine in restaurants, the MJ Nesheiwat Convention Center and the Dutchess County Court House.
Treatment Near the Hudson River
Your first step in recovery will be a comprehensive assessment. The assessment will help their staff obtain a little bit of your background history with substances, mental health, and medical history. This information helps the staff determine the best level of care for you and your individualized treatment plan.
On staff they have a psychiatrist, licensed counselors and a nurse practitioner. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available for those with alcohol or opioid use disorders. Medications that have been approved by the FDA are used to help provide relief of withdrawal symptoms, therefore allowing you to focus on your treatment and recovery.
During your time in their treatment program you will attend individual counselling sessions and weekly group sessions. If needed, they can incorporate family counseling. There’s also a certified peer specialist on staff. They’re able to help you schedule medical transportation and obtain information from insurance to help coordinate care.
Main Street Clinic Specialized Groups and Therapy Programming
I like that their specialized groups will address opioid use disorders and co-occurring disorders. Specific needs will also be addressed for women and individuals that are involved in the criminal justice system.
They offer a few forms of therapy programming. Art therapy provides the opportunity to express your feelings, thoughts and emotions without the use of words. Yoga will help relieve stress while also providing you with physical activity.
Other forms of therapy are also available. You may notice that your treatment plan may also include narrative therapy, trauma focused groups, moral reconation, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR).

Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
Detox Service Setting
-
MAT
Medication assisted treatment combines medication and counseling to manage withdrawal and reduce cravings for opioid and alcohol addiction. Medications may include methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone. MAT is tailored to your needs so you can actively participate in your treatment journey.
