About LSA Recovery – Midwood
The Midwood location of LSA Recovery provides medically supervised outpatient treatment in Brooklyn, New York. Adults can receive treatment for chemical dependency. The organization is affiliated with the Interborough Developmental and Consultation Center. They’re open six days per week and have a multicultural staff. Their programs are conducted in English, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Russian. I like that they are conveniently located within two blocks of the Q and B trains, as well as on the bus route. Medicaid and Medicare are accepted.
Medication and Counseling Used To Address Addiction
Their medication assisted treatment (MAT) program combines medication and counseling. This approach addresses the psychological, physical, and social aspects of your condition. You will be prescribed FDA approved medications to help alleviate your withdrawal symptoms and ease your cravings.
Your treatment plan will be tailored to meet your needs. Their experienced addiction specialists will provide you with support during your treatment journey. You will also have support and ongoing care to sustain your sobriety. Everything will be confidential during your therapy sessions.
You will also have access to education on HIV/AIDS, substance use and health. Crisis management and vocational services are available. I like that they provide Naloxone training and kits to prevent death by overdose.
Addressing Co-occurring Disorders Simultaneously
The MICA program addresses both mental health and substance use using modalities that are evidence based. Group therapy and medication management are integral parts of this program.
The therapeutic approaches that’ll be used are motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. These forms of therapy will help retrain your brain to improve emotional regulation, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and address the issues that contribute to your mental health and substance use challenges.
Levels of Care
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
Aftercare
Aftercare programs provide ongoing support after you complete a rehab program. They may include several components to help you maintain sobriety including therapy, community support groups and relapse prevention strategies. This gives you a network of resources as you reintegrate into your daily life.
-
Dual Diagnosis
Dual diagnosis programs address substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions simultaneously. This integrated approach to care improves the likelihood of long term recovery and stability by addressing the root causes of addiction.
