About Malibu Wellness Ranch
On 800 sprawling acres in the Pocono Mountains, Malibu Wellness Ranch offers substance use treatment for men and women. This ranch in Milford, Pennsylvania, is a secluded and beautiful campus where clients can focus on healing both bodies and minds.
Malibu Wellness Ranch accepts many insurance carriers and is in network with Humana, Cigna, TRICARE, and ComPsych. I like that they always verify insurance before clients are admitted so that you have peace of mind.
Meds at Malibu
Many clients begin their recovery in their medical detox unit. I appreciate that the detox unit is kept separate from the residential clients. Here, you’ll be carefully monitored as you work through ridding your body of chemical substances. This process can be scary because of the chance of complications. At Malibu Wellness Ranch, you’ll have doctors and nurses monitoring you 24/7. I appreciate that they also provide different medications to make you as comfortable as possible.
Another focus during your detox unit stay is to give you the rest and nutrition you need. After detox, clients move to the residential area of the campus. At this point, your withdrawal symptoms are either completely gone or very manageable. At this stage of recovery, the focus will be on getting a better understanding of addiction as a disease. You’ll also be introduced to 12 Step programs. I’m blown away by just how many techniques they use to help people on their recovery journey.
Adventure without Addiction
All therapy and no play doesn’t make for a complete recovery. At Malibu, they provide you with both. This includes traditional therapy methods like CBT and family therapy but also cognitive restructuring, role-playing, and adventure treks.
I really like their equine program. You’ll work with horses and learn to care for them. Doing so can elevate your sense of compassion and empathy. Working at their ranch can also foster teamwork and leadership skills, not to mention providing a quick work out to relieve stress.
Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also available at all levels of care. This allows clients to get an extra biochemical level of support to train their brains and bodies to live free from substances.
Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
Intensive Outpatient
-
PHP
Partial hospitalization programs provide comprehensive treatment in a structured setting during the day but allow you to return home at night. These programs offer a balance of inpatient and outpatient rehab and provide intensive support without full time residency.
Detox Service Setting
-
Inpatient Detox
Inpatient detox occurs in a dedicated treatment facility. You’ll live there around the clock and receive intensive medical support and supervision to help manage your withdrawal symptoms. It is suitable for individuals with moderate to severe addictions as it ensures a stable detox environment.
-
Outpatient Detox
Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.
-
MAT
Medication assisted treatment combines medication and counseling to manage withdrawal and reduce cravings for opioid and alcohol addiction. Medications may include methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone. MAT is tailored to your needs so you can actively participate in your treatment journey.
