McAlister Institute offers 24 different programs for substance use disorders. Located in El Cajon, California their programs span from prevention and outreach to detox and short-term residential, long-term residential and sober living. They offer evidence based, trauma informed treatments and have programs for teens, adults, women, parents and LGBTQ folks.

At their Corporate Office location, McAlister Institute offers outpatient detox. Otherwise known as ambulatory detox, this flexible method of substance withdrawal allows individuals to continue to live at home while getting started on their journey to recovery. Clients will attend treatment on site and then return to sleep in their own beds.

Treatment looks different for each person. It can include medications to ease withdrawal symptoms as well as individual or group therapy and peer-support groups. After detox, clients can step into one of the many other programs offered by the McAlister Institute.

McAlister offers comprehensive services that include assessment, treatment planning, individual and group counseling, case management, vocational and housing support, and aftercare recovery services.

McAlister Institute accepts private pay and most private insurance plans. Most of their programs accept Medi-Cal.
