About MeadowWood Behavioral Health
Centered in the heart of New Castle County in New Castle, Delaware, is MeadowWood Behavioral Health. This is a residential treatment facility that serves residents throughout Northern Delaware, Southwestern New Jersey, and Eastern Maryland. They offer supportive care if you have a substance use struggle or co-occurring mental health disorders. Designed for individuals who need more robust care than what they might find with traditional outpatient care, the facility offers dedicated recovery programs for adolescents, young adults and seniors.
MAT, Holistic and Traditional Methods
You’ll find a blend of therapies and treatment approaches offered at MeadowWood Behavioral Health. There is also supervised detox available to help you safely wean your body off of a chemical dependency.
Often, medication assisted treatment (MAT) is a follow up therapy used after detox. Offered here at MeadoWood, this therapy allows you to manage ongoing cravings and withdrawal symptoms so that you can better focus on the counseling services you receive.
There’s also a robust holistic approach to care here. Some of the support you’ll find here includes pet therapy, psychoeducation, recreational therapy and expressive arts therapy. Through these services, you get the opportunity to explore interests and new hobbies that can give you a sense of calm and mental clarity. For older recovering individuals, reminiscent therapy is also an effective tool in helping you or an elderly loved one overcome the complex emotional challenges brought on by substance abuse struggles.
Structured Care
MeadowWood is a structured and supportive place to seek treatment. While there is a strong clinical presence, this is outweighed by the friendly and supportive staff you’ll meet in your treatment program.
There’s a strong focus on treating the whole person, not just the symptoms, and you’ll see this reflected in the relationships that are built with families as well. This allows you to have wraparound support from both your loved ones and your clinical team.

Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
PHP
Partial hospitalization programs provide comprehensive treatment in a structured setting during the day but allow you to return home at night. These programs offer a balance of inpatient and outpatient rehab and provide intensive support without full time residency.
Detox Service Setting
-
Hospital Detox
Hospital detoxification allows you to withdraw from drugs or alcohol in a hospital setting. It’s ideal for people with severe withdrawal symptoms or complex medical needs. You’ll receive constant monitoring, emergency care if needed and FDA approved prescription medications.
-
Inpatient Detox
Inpatient detox occurs in a dedicated treatment facility. You’ll live there around the clock and receive intensive medical support and supervision to help manage your withdrawal symptoms. It is suitable for individuals with moderate to severe addictions as it ensures a stable detox environment.
-
Outpatient Detox
Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.
-
MAT
Medication assisted treatment combines medication and counseling to manage withdrawal and reduce cravings for opioid and alcohol addiction. Medications may include methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone. MAT is tailored to your needs so you can actively participate in your treatment journey.
