About Prevention and Recovery Center (PaRC): Houston Drug and Alcohol Rehab

The Prevention and Recovery Center or PaRC is a drug and alcohol rehab center in Houston, Texas. They have a detox center and residential rehab at this facility along with outpatient options like a partial hospitalization program and intensive outpatient program.

For any of these programs, they accept most private insurance carriers like Aetna and BCBS and Cigna but they don’t accept Medicaid or Medicare. You can do an insurance verification with them first to find out what your benefits will cover and they have financial assistance in some cases too.

What I found most impressive about this detox center is that they have detox care for not only adults but teenagers as young as 13 too and that’s something you don’t see very often.

They actually have detox groups for several different age ranges including a group for ages 13 to 17 and a young adult group for ages 18 to 24 and finally an adult group for ages 25 and older. They also have a specialized detox for adults who have chronic pain and a detox program for executives and professionals.

In all of these programs, they serve clients of all genders and they have a full continuum of care for you to continue your recovery journey after detox. You can transition into their residential rehab after detox and then gradually step down to get the right level of support and accountability at each stage of your recovery. They have aftercare treatment and family rehab too.

For the most part, clients here are happy with the experience and say that it’s beneficial to their recovery. Some clients do say that the facility pushes AA and other 12 step programs harder than they would like and that these programs don’t work for everyone but still clients say the staff is empathetic and helpful. It does speak to their expertise that they’re accredited by The Joint Commission.

Levels of Care

  • Outpatient

In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.

Detox Service Setting

  • Outpatient Detox

Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.

  • MAT

Medication assisted treatment combines medication and counseling to manage withdrawal and reduce cravings for opioid and alcohol addiction. Medications may include methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone. MAT is tailored to your needs so you can actively participate in your treatment journey.

Programs

  • Adult (18+)

Adult programs address the substance use and life challenges specific to adults. Therapists can deliver sessions in individual, group and family settings. Services often include job support and life skills training in a structured environment.

  • Women

Women's programs offer a safe and supportive space to focus on gender specific issues such as trauma, family roles and mental health conditions. Therapists tailor the sessions to address women's needs and foster empowerment in a healing and nurturing environment.

  • Young Adult (18 - 25)

Young adult programs are designed for individuals who are transitioning into adulthood. Topics of discussion typically include identity, independence and peer relationships. Providers may also offer life skills training and career support.

  • Men

Men's programs address substance use while also considering the social pressures, family roles and mental health concerns that are specific to men. You’ll learn healthy coping mechanisms as you build emotional resilience and develop communication skills.
