About Southern Supportive Services
Formerly known as My Place in Recovery, this facility is now called Southern Supportive Services. Care is offered to individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The goal of services is to help people get back on their feet.
Housing Support in Saint Petersburg
This facility is a nonprofit that’s been helping the unhoused in Tampa Bay since 2013. They serve locals in the Tampa Bay area and even have temporary and supportive housing in the Pinellas County area.
The brainchild of Glenn Wilder, this facility is a place to help those who are lost find their way. If they’re hungry, they can expect to be met with a warm, nutritious meal. If they’re out of work, the team will help them find stable employment. Housing and shelter options are available, as well as addiction treatment support services like medication assisted treatment (MAT) and detox through referral. Clients can also access regular support group meetings here for Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous (AA/NA). Intake and assessments are also provided, as well as case management services.
Zero Tolerance
The facility’s Zero Tolerance program is geared toward helping clients recover from their substance use disorder (SUD). Sobriety is mandatory for this program, and participants are expected to respect this guideline should they wish to continue taking part. As the name suggests, this is firmly a zero tolerance policy. Should individuals be interested but unsure of whether they can respect this guideline, other more flexible programs are available at the facility.
Support groups also feature in this program, as well as drug testing. Participants are expected to get a sponsor once they begin regularly attending AA and NA meetings. It’s also encouraged that participants try to get a stable job if possible.
Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
Detox Service Setting
-
Inpatient Detox
Inpatient detox occurs in a dedicated treatment facility. You’ll live there around the clock and receive intensive medical support and supervision to help manage your withdrawal symptoms. It is suitable for individuals with moderate to severe addictions as it ensures a stable detox environment.
-
Outpatient Detox
Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.
Programs
-
