About New Chance East Wyatt Earp Boulevard
New Chance has provided compassionate substance use treatment for Kansans since 1975. They’re situated along East Wyatt Earp Boulevard in Dodge City, about two miles east of Boot Hill Museum and Dodge City Trail of Fame. Their care continuum ranges from social detox and intermediate residential care to outpatient programs and peer support services.
These programs are open to all adults, except for intermediate residential and extended care, which are exclusively for male clients. I like their focus on helping uninsured and underinsured patients access quality treatment. Support for such clients depends on grant funding and bed availability. The facility also provides care for individuals with Medicaid, private insurance, or through private pay.
Social Detoxification & Medication-Supported Recovery
New Chance operates a 24/7 social detox unit that offers immediate support and a safe place for individuals to begin withdrawal with non-medical care. This setting helps stabilize people emotionally and behaviorally before they transition into more structured treatment. For medical emergencies or severe withdrawal symptoms, you must first become medically stable before entering the unit. While onsite, you’ll be monitored by trained staff, receive emotional support and have access to basic needs like meals plus plenty of rest.
They also boast a dedicated medical division staffed with experts who coordinate medication assisted treatment (MAT) for clients who may benefit from medication support. Clients receive Suboxone, Vivitrol or buprenorphine. This eases cravings and minimizes painful withdrawal symptoms.
Rebuilding Structure and Strength After Detox
Most male clients transition to intermediate residential care upon stabilization after detox to continue building structure, rediscover purpose and grow stronger in recovery. Eligible clients may also receive extended care after completing residential therapy. New Chance will partner with community providers when necessary to tackle your co-occurring needs, ensuring well-rounded care.
Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
Sober Living
Sober living homes provide a supportive and substance free environment for you to live in as you overcome your addiction. Residents must follow house rules and support each other's recovery journeys. Sober living fosters accountability and stability during this critical phase of recovery.
