About Otis R Bowen Center for Human Services
Located in Warsaw, Indianapolis, the Otis R Bowen Center for Human Services offered addiction treatment for individuals and families. They’re permanently closed now but they provided hospitalized detox, intensive outpatient programs and medication assisted treatment as well as treatment for compulsive gambling, sexual addictions and eating disorders.
Hospitalized detox gave clients the highest level of care as they transition through withdrawal. They would live on site and had access to around the clock care and support. Individuals were carefully and closely monitored during each phase of detox. Some patients may have received medication to assist with this process. After detox, patients could step down into another level of care including IOP or MAT.
MAT combined the use of FDA-approved medications with counseling to set up individuals for long-term recovery. These medications helped reduce cravings as well as made it safer for individuals who relapse. Clients may have participated in individual, group, or family counseling. They also had access to life skills coaching and care that focused on their physical and mental health as well.
Bowen Center accepted private pay and Medicaid. No one was turned away for an inability to pay. They may have referred patients to community services which may have been covered by private insurance.
