About Phoenix Center
The Phoenix Center provides adults with medical detoxification in Greenville, South Carolina. The organization is governed by the Greenville County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. They are licensed by the Department of Health and Environmental Control and CARF-accredited.
The 10-bed medical detox unit is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The staff consists of nurses, counselors and on-call physicians. For your comfort and safety, I like that you will be closely monitored.
Adult men and women must be 18 years or older to be admitted. You must also complete the screening process and meet the medical criteria of needing acute medical detoxification. It is expected that you also attend group therapy. The group sessions will focus on the introduction to the treatment process and engagement.
Usually the length of time in the detox unit is five to seven days. The length of stay will vary depending on your substance choice and the use severity of that substance. A proactive approach will be taken towards your treatment and therapies.
I like that they will provide you with a discharge plan. The discharge plan will help transition you into treatment services. Their hope is that by providing an introduction into treatment, you will be motivated to seek and attend longer term treatment.
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is also available. The medications they provide are either Suboxone or Vivitrol. Once you have completed detox, it is an absolute requirement of theirs that you attend an outpatient program to receive these medications.
