About Community and Family Resources
Community and Family Resources provides substance use, gambling, and mental illness treatment in both residential and outpatient levels of care. One of their locations is in Iowa City, Iowa. This location provides detox services, medication assisted treatment (MAT) and intensive outpatient programs.
Detox in Iowa City
Detox at Community and Family Resources includes 24/7 medical monitoring and supervising. Nursing staff offer basic health care, encouragement and support and a safe space to go through the withdrawal process. Their detox program works with both clients and their family members to begin the journey to physical health as well as emotional wellness.
Intensive Outpatient and Extended Outpatient Programs
Community and Family Resources offers counselor-led therapy groups to help clients work through the root causes of their addiction. I like their expansive curriculum that includes recovery skills, relapse prevention and family education. You’ll learn how to stop thoughts, deal with boredom and manage your health.
They also offer MAT for clients recovering from opioids or alcohol. Experienced staff can prescribe medication on-site at their Iowa City location. They’ll walk through the different medication options with you to find the right one for you.
I like that they also offer gender-specific programs, support for folks with PTSD and even jail-based programming. They even integrate care for co-occurring disorders like problem gambling and mental health.
You can choose different intensity levels of care based on your needs and the severity of your addiction. The programming will remain the same, but you’ll attend more or fewer sessions each week depending on your needs.
Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
Aftercare
Aftercare programs provide ongoing support after you complete a rehab program. They may include several components to help you maintain sobriety including therapy, community support groups and relapse prevention strategies. This gives you a network of resources as you reintegrate into your daily life.
-
Dual Diagnosis
Dual diagnosis programs address substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions simultaneously. This integrated approach to care improves the likelihood of long term recovery and stability by addressing the root causes of addiction.
-
Sober Living
Sober living homes provide a supportive and substance free environment for you to live in as you overcome your addiction. Residents must follow house rules and support each other's recovery journeys. Sober living fosters accountability and stability during this critical phase of recovery.
