About MiraVista Behavioral Health Center
At MiraVista in Holyoke, Massachusetts clients can get help with both mental health needs and substance use disorders. The inpatient psychiatric unit provides immediate help during mental health crises. For those struggling with addiction, they have an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and a medication assisted treatment (MAT) program for opioid dependency. Some services are available in Spanish.
Clients can also take court ordered classes at MiraVista, including the Massachusetts Impaired Driver Program (MID) and Second Offender Aftercare (SOA). You can get rides back and forth to these treatment programs if you need help with transportation. MiraVista also provides free Narcan and overdose prevention training.
The intensive outpatient program meets five days a week for 3.5 hours per session. You’ll get evidence based therapy as well as connection to the community that will make it easier to transition back into daily life after the program ends.
The MAT program uses approved medications such as Suboxone, Sublocade, Naltrexone, Vivitrol and more to help manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings. This helps you stay stable during treatment while you’re learning the new mindsets and skills you need to maintain long term sobriety.
In the inpatient psychiatric unit, which can also treat mental health issues that co occur with addiction, clients get a variety of group treatment options, including pet therapy. They are committed to gender affirming and inclusive care with an emphasis on LGBTQ+ safety. The goal is to stabilize clients so they can return home safely as quickly as possible, and most patients stay seven to 14 days.
A separate mental health inpatient program for adolescents also aims to stabilize them quickly. Youth have access to art, music, and pet therapy along with evidence based treatment. Adolescent clients also get education and recreational activities and help developing coping mechanisms and healthy emotional regulation.

Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
Aftercare
Aftercare programs provide ongoing support after you complete a rehab program. They may include several components to help you maintain sobriety including therapy, community support groups and relapse prevention strategies. This gives you a network of resources as you reintegrate into your daily life.
-
Intervention
An intervention is a structured and professionally guided conversation with an individual who is struggling with addiction. During the conversation, family and friends will encourage you to seek treatment. This is often a pivotal step for those resistant to getting help.
