About Recovery Centers of America at Westminster
Recovery Centers of America at Westminster is about 50 miles outside of Boston in a rural corner of Westminster, Massachusetts. The facility is a substance use and behavioral health treatment center. They’re accredited by both CARF and The Joint Commission. They offer inpatient, outpatient, and medication assisted treatment (MAT) services. They also have drug and alcohol detox services. They treat alcohol, opioids, prescription drugs, and club drugs.
If you’re a first responder or military member, they have the RESCU program, a confidential substance use disorder treatment program. They’re in network with many insurance providers making treatment more affordable. If you can’t afford your copay or deductible, they’ll work with you to come up with an interest free payment plan.
Detox is an inpatient program where you’ll have medical supervision. Detox is different for everyone depending on what type of substances you use and how long you’ve been using them. Withdrawing from any drug can be dangerous, so you’ll have your vital signs closely monitored. If you’re experiencing discomfort, they’ll give you medication to ease your withdrawal symptoms.
The detox program is the first step in the facility’s continuum of care that includes inpatient and outpatient programs depending on your needs. While in detox, in addition to medications, you’ll have therapy to identify any possible co-occurring mental health disorders, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is one of the therapies used in the program. It’s a therapy that teaches you better coping skills and how to manage your emotions and deal with crises. DBT also teaches you how to improve your relationships. You’ll also be introduced to the 12 Step model of recovery, and you’ll have the opportunity to attend daily meetings. If it’s appropriate, you’ll have family therapy too.
The center has a welcoming atmosphere full of New England charm. There’s an outdoor pool, a gym, nutritional coaching, and open spaces for fellowship. You’ll have ample opportunity to find ways to decrease stress without resorting to drugs.
After completing detox, you’ll stay in the inpatient program or move to an outpatient program. Most people complete an inpatient stay and then transition to an outpatient program. They also offer Telehealth options if you’re unable to make it to the outpatient programs in person.

Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
Intervention
An intervention is a structured and professionally guided conversation with an individual who is struggling with addiction. During the conversation, family and friends will encourage you to seek treatment. This is often a pivotal step for those resistant to getting help.
Detox Service Setting
-
Inpatient Detox
Inpatient detox occurs in a dedicated treatment facility. You’ll live there around the clock and receive intensive medical support and supervision to help manage your withdrawal symptoms. It is suitable for individuals with moderate to severe addictions as it ensures a stable detox environment.
