About South Central Regional Medical Center
South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi has an alcohol and drug detox facility located on the third floor of their medical center. The inpatient detox service treats individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. They accept various insurance plans, including Medicaid, Medicare, and other commercial or private insurance plans.
The facility provides patients with a therapeutic setting where they can have their own private rooms and comfortable dining, community and therapy rooms. The South Central Alcohol and Drug Detox Unit is staffed with certified clinical and medical personnel who will provide each patient with the highest quality of care. Patients will participate in a structured program that includes a physical examination, a psychiatric evaluation and education on the disease of addiction.
The medical center has 10 beds available, and the program typically lasts five to seven days. Medical centers typically use federally approved medications to help with reducing withdrawal symptoms. The medications that may be used include suboxone, naltrexone, or buprenorphine. Clinicians and patients will determine which option is best for them based on their specific needs. Along with using medication, patients will receive other services during detox, such as individual counseling, group therapy, and help with developing a relapse prevention plan.
If a client desires it as a part of their treatment then they can also receive spiritual counseling. Patients will have the option of attending Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings in house or outside of the facility as additional support. When patients have completed detox, South Central Regional Medical Center can refer them to a continuing care facility such as a halfway house or a secondary treatment facility.
