About Spencer Recovery Center Dr Pauls at the Bay
Dr. Paul’s at the Bay is part of the Spencer Recovery Network. They treat substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The facility is located near the shoreline of Saint Petersburg, Florida, and the program serves a high-end clientele in a beautiful setting. They have a residential program where you’ll live 24/7. They also have an intensive outpatient program (IOP). The programs are for patients who have completed detox.
They accept insurance from most major companies, including Veterans Administration plans, and they’ll bill your insurance company directly.
Although they don’t offer inpatient detox, they will provide medication assistance if appropriate. You’ll participate in individual and group counseling. Individual counseling is private and offers a safe space to discover the root of your substance use. For many people, that includes a co-occurring mental health disorder such as major depression, bipolar disorder, or another mental health challenge.
The program works to build your confidence and self esteem since these are often driving forces behind substance use. If you’ve been using substances for a while, your body is depleted of essential nutrients. Staff addresses this through nutrition education and healthy meals. You’ll also work on your physical fitness.
The inpatient program is at least 28 days but if you need to stay longer you’ll be accommodated. While in the program, you’ll learn about the 12 Step recovery model that includes groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). You’ll work on your aftercare plan, which includes setting up a support system in your community to help you maintain your sobriety.
After the inpatient program, you can step down to the IOP. Outpatient treatment helps you firmly establish sobriety while living at home or in a sober living situation. The program emphasizes relapse prevention and integration back into the community. You’ll have the opportunity for job training and internships while gaining new work skills. You’ll attend 3-5 days a week with at least nine hours or more of weekly treatment.
The area around the facility is serene and beautiful. You’ll have access to the bay to the Gulf of Mexico, a pool, and outdoor patios while you work on a healthy and sober lifestyle. For a short trip, Colonel Micheal J. Horan Park is also pretty close by.

Levels of Care
-
Inpatient

This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
Detox Service Setting
-
Inpatient Detox
Inpatient detox occurs in a dedicated treatment facility. You’ll live there around the clock and receive intensive medical support and supervision to help manage your withdrawal symptoms. It is suitable for individuals with moderate to severe addictions as it ensures a stable detox environment.
-
Outpatient Detox
Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.
