If you’re ready to stop using substances, detox is the first step to a sober lifestyle. Detox is when you rid your body of the toxic substances you’ve been using. During the process, you may experience some uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms, but they’ll give you medication to help ease your symptoms. You’ll be medically monitored by a nurse 24/7, and the patient to staff ratio is 2:1.

MAT detox is commonly used for opioid withdrawal. The medications they use for opioid detox include methadone, buprenorphine, and clonidine. Methadone and buprenorphine are opioid agonists which take the place of the opioids you’ve been using. They don’t give you the same rush as the opioids and they reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Clonidine is usually used for clients who’ve become dependent on prescription opiates. Clonidine treats high blood pressure and reduces the symptoms of opiate withdrawal.

After the detox program, most people move to an inpatient or outpatient rehab program. Detox breaks the physical dependence on substances but it’s important to address the psychological and emotional aspects of the disease. Levels of Care

Inpatient

Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. PHP

Outpatient Detox

Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.
MAT
