About Summit Oaks Hospital
Summit Oaks Hospital is a substance use and mental health treatment facility on Prospect Street in Summit, New Jersey. They offer treatment for dual diagnosis and substance use, including a dedicated adult detoxification program.
The center accepts insurance from many major companies including Aetna, Cigna, and BlueCross BlueShield. They also take TRICARE, Medicaid and Medicare. Even if your insurer isn’t in network they can usually work with them and offer you a few payment options.
The detox program is for adults 18 and up and is for both alcohol and drugs. The detox program starts with a comprehensive evaluation and substance use assessment. They offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) during detox if necessary.
Medications can ease your withdrawal symptoms and make detox more comfortable. Withdrawal symptoms are different for each person depending on your body and the type of substances you’ve been using. Some common withdrawal symptoms are anxiety, nausea, and insomnia.
While in the program, you’ll take part in a therapeutic daily schedule. The schedule includes goals, processing, and addiction groups after breakfast. You’ll also attend 12-step groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). After lunch, you’ll get some outside time and fresh air.
In the afternoon, you’ll have time for therapeutic activities like yoga, sports and relaxation therapy. There’s also a performance group that engages in drama therapy. Drama therapy uses role-playing to help you understand and empathize with other people’s emotions and thoughts. They also have pet, music, art, and leisure therapies all of which help you develop healthy habits and activities to cope with life’s stressors.
You’ll have a healthy dinner around 5:00 p.m. followed by some leisure time and a wrap-up group around 7:00 p.m. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in an AA or NA meeting at 8:00 p.m. for an hour before calling it a day. Once you’re through with the detox program, you’ll meet with your treatment team to determine what further treatment options will be best for your rehab.

Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
PHP
Partial hospitalization programs provide comprehensive treatment in a structured setting during the day but allow you to return home at night. These programs offer a balance of inpatient and outpatient rehab and provide intensive support without full time residency.
Detox Service Setting
-
Hospital Detox
Hospital detoxification allows you to withdraw from drugs or alcohol in a hospital setting. It’s ideal for people with severe withdrawal symptoms or complex medical needs. You’ll receive constant monitoring, emergency care if needed and FDA approved prescription medications.
-
MAT
Medication assisted treatment combines medication and counseling to manage withdrawal and reduce cravings for opioid and alcohol addiction. Medications may include methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone. MAT is tailored to your needs so you can actively participate in your treatment journey.
-
Outpatient Detox
Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.
-
Inpatient Detox
Inpatient detox occurs in a dedicated treatment facility. You’ll live there around the clock and receive intensive medical support and supervision to help manage your withdrawal symptoms. It is suitable for individuals with moderate to severe addictions as it ensures a stable detox environment.
