About Terros Health – Mcdowell Health Center
Comprehensive medication assisted treatment (MAT) is provided by Terros Health’s McDowell Health Center in metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona, as part of an integrated care approach. They’re not too far from the Phoenix Zoo. This means obtaining medical care, customized counseling and support in acquiring the life skills required for a complete recovery.
In the MAT program, you’ll be supported by a dedicated team of medical professionals, counselors and peer community health workers. They’re open weekdays and on Saturdays. At your initial induction appointment, you’ll receive maintenance care from your MAT provider. They’ll also set up laboratory blood work, perform a behavioral health evaluation, and connect you with a primary care physician.
The program provides efficient treatment options that are customized to meet your recovery stage such as Vivitrol, Subutex and Suboxone. Their strategy places a strong emphasis on the value of community and family support enabling you to live a happier healthier life.
Their supportive outpatient program (SOP) is made available to people who have finished an intensive outpatient program or who have relapsed. SOP emphasizes life skills and reintegration into everyday life through two group sessions per week for an average of 12 weeks.
For those who require additional assistance weekly relapse prevention groups are also available. Their intensive outpatient program features groups meeting three times a week for three hours to help you through withdrawal. Sessions usually consist of 8 to 12 people and you can choose between day and evening options. Evidence based treatment techniques are used such as 12 Step programs and behavioral therapies. Additionally, you’ll have weekly one hour sessions with your therapist. IOP treatment typically lasts 12 weeks.
You can get help getting to your medical appointments by using the available transportation. The care team will help you apply for coverage through Arizona’s Medicaid agency AHCCCS and will put you in touch with community resources. You can get the care you require by accepting people with or without insurance and providing a discount program for those who qualify.

Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
Detox Service Setting

Inpatient Detox
Inpatient detox occurs in a dedicated treatment facility. You’ll live there around the clock and receive intensive medical support and supervision to help manage your withdrawal symptoms. It is suitable for individuals with moderate to severe addictions as it ensures a stable detox environment.

MAT
Medication assisted treatment combines medication and counseling to manage withdrawal and reduce cravings for opioid and alcohol addiction. Medications may include methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone. MAT is tailored to your needs so you can actively participate in your treatment journey.

Adult (18+)
Adult programs address the substance use and life challenges specific to adults. Therapists can deliver sessions in individual, group and family settings. Services often include job support and life skills training in a structured environment.

Young Adult (18 - 25)
Young adult programs are designed for individuals who are transitioning into adulthood. Topics of discussion typically include identity, independence and peer relationships. Providers may also offer life skills training and career support.

Women's programs offer a safe and supportive space to focus on gender specific issues such as trauma, family roles and mental health conditions. Therapists tailor the sessions to address women's needs and foster empowerment in a healing and nurturing environment.

Men's programs address substance use while also considering the social pressures, family roles and mental health concerns that are specific to men. You’ll learn healthy coping mechanisms as you build emotional resilience and develop communication skills.
