About Turning Point Saint Petersburg
Turning Point Saint Petersburg operates under WestCare Florida, Inc., and is part of a wider nonprofit network of behavioral health and human services organizations. Based in St. Petersburg, Florida, this facility serves as an emergency intervention shelter and provides support to adults who are experiencing homelessness. Their clients include veterans and individuals struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders.
Emergency Shelter and Support
This is the only shelter and facility in its local area that accepts inebriated adults directly from off the street. Here, individuals who are homeless can access emergency shelter and cold-night shelter services, alongside addiction treatment.
The staff aims to engage individuals through various supportive services, including temporary shelter, access to food and nourishment, shower facilities and case management. Individuals can also be linked up with other community health and support services depending on their unique needs.
Supportive counseling services are provided, alongside access to 12 Step meetings. Skill building groups are also available to help empower individuals to be self-sufficient as they turn their lives around.
Many clients eventually transition to further recovery support and transitional living at the Mustard Seed Inn. This is another WestCare facility located just a few minutes away from Turning Point.
Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in St. Petersburg
As part of the addiction treatment services offered here, clients can also access MAT. FDA approved Vivitrol and buprenorphine are the primary medications used as part of treatment here. These are offered alongside individual and group counseling sessions, relapse prevention and case management services.
Levels of Care

Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.

Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
