About VA Northern California Health Care System Sacramento VA Medical Center
VA Northern California Health Care System Sacramento VA Medical Center in Mather, California, is a primary care veteran’s facility. Support is available to adult veterans aged 18 and older, including those with dual diagnosis or co-occurring mental health issues regardless of gender, race or background. Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE and other private insurance plans are accepted here.
The facility is an 81 bed inpatient facility that offers a range of medical, primary care, mental health and behavioral health services. Outpatient and diagnostic services are also available.
Clients can only be seen here by appointment which can easily be done online or over the phone. Support is available here for a range of mental health issues like PTSD, depression and trauma, as well as comorbid behavioral issues like addiction. The facility can offer same day support for those who need it, and individuals may qualify without even needing to enroll in VA health care.
The center provides consultation, evaluation and eventual treatment in the form of inpatient and outpatient services. Telehealth appointments are also available for those unable to make regular in-person appointments. Homeless veterans services are also available to help individuals get back on their feet with temporary housing and mental health support.
In terms of specific addiction treatment services, clients can benefit from a great deal of support here. Many individuals will begin with medically managed detox services which are typically monitored by supportive staff to ensure a safe and secure process. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) and drug substitution therapies are also available using FDA approved medicines such as methadone and buprenorphine. These medications lessen the intensity of withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Nicotine replacement and other similar alternatives are also provided to help individuals quit smoking.
A few therapy options are available, too, such as short term outpatient counseling and marriage and family counseling. Residential care is available for those in need of my support and structure, while the intensive outpatient program (IOP) is recommended for those who may benefit from a more flexible approach to care.
