Helping Veterans Get Back on Their Feet
Each client accessing VA Health for substance use treatment receives a personalized care plan that’s sensitive to the issues faced by veterans, such as PTSD and problems readjusting to civilian life. Outpatient addiction services include group and one-to-one therapy to address the psychological impact of addiction, as well as education, job help, and social support to help get clients back on their feet.
Clients may also be eligible for medication assisted treatment (MAT), where clients are prescribed medication to ease their cravings and withdrawal symptoms while engaging in other therapeutic approaches, like counseling. In cases of severe chemical dependency, clients may be referred to an inpatient facility for medically monitored detoxification to help them wean off substances in a safe and controlled way.
A referral for mental health services is required at the Margaret Cochran Corbin Campus, but you can present without an appointment and may receive same day treatment in urgent cases. It’s great that this VA clinic is open around the clock, seven days a week, so there’s help whenever you need it.
Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
