About Welcome House
Welcome House is a sober living environment that offers medication assisted treatment (MAT) to a limited number of residents. Welcome House serves adult men, and requires you to be detoxed before entering the facilities. Many of their residents are there for court ordered recovery services, as an alternative option to incarceration. They’re based in Kansas City, Missouri, not far from Troost Lake Park, and have capacity for 48 men.
Welcome House started out as a group of men in recovery deciding to help others through the difficult journey they’d been through. They sought out men in need around the town and held Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in rundown hotel rooms around the city. About a year later, they bought property and Welcome House was born.
Although they began as primarily a 12 Step program, they’ve since grown to include recovery coaching and workshops as part of their offerings. They also began offering MAT services in 2019 to help men manage intense cravings while in recovery from opioid dependency.
If you need support for mental health or dual diagnosis concerns, they have an extensive referral system. When entering their care, you can go through clinical assessments and screening processes to identify if you require additional care.
It’s worth noting that Welcome House provides a lot of structure and firm boundaries for their residents. They have strict rules of residency, including mandatory attendance of AA/NA meetings, room searches, curfews, phone usage, and maintaining or actively searching for employment. If you respond well to rigorous structure and want to be held accountable through recovery, they could be a great fit for you.
Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
Detox Service Setting
-
Inpatient Detox
Inpatient detox occurs in a dedicated treatment facility. You’ll live there around the clock and receive intensive medical support and supervision to help manage your withdrawal symptoms. It is suitable for individuals with moderate to severe addictions as it ensures a stable detox environment.
-
Outpatient Detox
Outpatient detox gives you access to medically supervised withdrawal services while still allowing you to live at home. You’ll attend a clinic for treatment and monitoring. This flexible option is suitable for those with mild to moderate withdrawal symptoms who have strong support systems.
