Accessible Addiction Recovery in Boston
This facility is super close to Egleston Square and Dudley Square and near Columbus Ave and Washington St. The broader area is surrounded by Franklin Park, Arnold Arboretum and Jamaica Pond. These are all located near the facility and offer a relaxing and recreational environment for clients in residential care.
The facility serves patients from neighboring Cambridge, Somerville and Quincy. MBTA Bus Routes 22, 29 and 44 have stops along Dimock Street and Columbus Ave for easy transit access. Roxbury Crossing Station provides direct service to Downtown Boston about three miles southwest.
As an FQHC, the facility is mandated to serve you regardless of your inability to pay. This aligns with their commitment to making care accessible to all, particularly the underserved and people from inner cities. The facility accepts Medicaid and Medicare and offers sliding fee discounts for the uninsured. Eligibility for this discount is determined based on family size and income.
Medically Supervised Detox
Their continuum of substance use treatment ranges from medically supervised detox to residential care and outpatient therapy. This lets them serve patients at different stages of recovery. Most patients begin their recovery here with supervised detox to wean the body off addiction-related toxins in preparation for the main therapy. This procedure takes place in a safe and highly therapeutic 32-bed medically monitored detox unit at their acute treatment center within the campus.
Clients stay at the facility for 14 days and receive medication assisted withdrawal under the care of the medical director and experienced nursing staff. FDA-approved medications like methadone, buprenorphine and clonidine are used to manage withdrawal symptoms and support recovery. Patients are fully supported in achieving physical stability while gaining the knowledge and tools to navigate everyday challenges that trigger substance use. They’re assisted in transitioning to the next level of care as part of a tailored discharge plan. This may involve stepping down to their residential or outpatient program.
Residential and Outpatient Treatment Options
The Dimock Center provides short-term intensive residential recovery for women and long-term residential care for men with co-occurring disorders. They also provide intensive care management for moms and children in recovery.
Their outpatient program involves recovery-focused individual and group sessions that equip patients with tools that support lasting abstinence. Groups cover topics like anger and stress management, relapse prevention strategies and parenting issues. The program also incorporates medication assisted treatment (MAT) to address alcoholism, opioid use issues and polysubstance abuse. Patients with dually diagnosed mental health and substance use issues can also receive psychiatric care, including medication management.
Levels of Care
-
Inpatient
Inpatient and residential programs provide round-the-clock medical and emotional support as you live at the treatment facility. This level of care may be recommended if you have severe addictions or mental health conditions since it removes outside distractions and allows you to focus solely on therapy.
-
Outpatient
In outpatient therapy, you’ll attend therapy sessions several times each week while living at home. This is ideal if you have a strong support system and a lower risk of relapse. Outpatient treatment offers flexibility to maintain work, school or family obligations.
-
Aftercare
Aftercare programs provide ongoing support after you complete a rehab program. They may include several components to help you maintain sobriety including therapy, community support groups and relapse prevention strategies. This gives you a network of resources as you reintegrate into your daily life.
-
Dual Diagnosis
Dual diagnosis programs address substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions simultaneously. This integrated approach to care improves the likelihood of long term recovery and stability by addressing the root causes of addiction.
-
Sober Living
Sober living homes provide a supportive and substance free environment for you to live in as you overcome your addiction. Residents must follow house rules and support each other's recovery journeys. Sober living fosters accountability and stability during this critical phase of recovery.
